It is the only tire recycling plant in Nigeria. This is a closed-loop environmental project with a public-private partnership. Lagos state collects used tires which are left on the side of the roads, further cleaning the streets.

Petra Rubber processes the used tires and shreds them into little particles. The iron within the tires are sold as scrap and the processed rubber is sold to bitumen plants which they use to build roads and sidewalks.
